3 Simple Tips To Prepare For Your Wedding Day

Wedding photographer

Murphy's Law is, “if anything can go wrong, it will”.

And working at weddings, I've definitely seen so many things go wrong and the best ways that people have handled them, and the most wonderful and beautiful outcomes.

So my Top Three Tips For Your Wedding Day is:

1) Read Your Contracts - Read your contracts, whether it's for your venue or for your photographer, your videographer, your florist, read all of your contracts and check the cancellation policy because Murphy's Law is something will happen and you won't get your refund. Just as an example of this is one of my Brides, was getting married and the venue had actually burnt down so obviously she couldn't have the wedding at the venue but she'd paid the deposit and didn't get any of it as a refund because the venue burning down wasn't in their contract or like disasters wasn't a sub-clause in their contract.

2) Weather - Prepare for all weather conditions, even if it's the middle of summer and it's not meant to rain for another month. Prepare for all weather conditions. Not too long ago example I had two weddings - one in the country where it hadn’t rained properly for over 400 days and (yep, you guessed it) it poured on their day. There was no marquee and no shelter. So all the guests, celebrant bride and groom photographers were drenched - needless to say, my camera gear defiantly needed a goof clean after. It was a beautiful ceremony and it was thanking God that everybody was from the country. So for them, they were really happy to see the rain and its good luck for the wedding. But definitely, if you don't want rain, be prepared!

So another example I have like preparing for all weather conditions as I had two beautiful brides that were getting ready at all that we’re getting married at their parent’s house, and it was torrential rains. So they've actually organised for a marquee the night before. And it was such a brilliant, brilliant idea because it kept everybody dry. They still had a beautiful, beautiful day and we captured some fantastic photos.

3) Checklist - I cannot stress this enough - follow a checklist!!. There are so many things that need to be booked and planned for your wedding day. So my advice is to make a checklist or download a checklist, there's so many everywhere. So to help you I have an ultimate wedding checklist that you can download below just to make sure that you're booking your top 10 essentials to have a perfect wedding.
