4 Tips for planning your wedding post-pandemic

2020, and even 2021 have almost been lost to lockdown after lockdown in attempts to manage the pandemic.  I know a lot of businesses have had to repeatedly close and re-open, and a lot of couples have had to cancel or postpone their big day.

Even nowadays in 2022, there are still last minute canellations, or a need to postpone because someone has caught the spicy cough.

And man, does that take a lot of time!

So firstly, if you have had to reschedule, well done! It just shows how resilient you are!

And although we are finally opening up again. Dan has said that there may be spot lockdowns if cases are high in a specific location. So here are a few tips, that I have gathered for you brides that have needed to reschedule again and again. I hope these tips help you navigate this crazy season!

  1. Check cancellation with all vendors / Back-ups and Rescheduling processes. A lot of venues and vendors (photographers, hair and make-up artists etc) are reviewing their contracts and changing them to accommodate a reschedule. But it’s also important to see if your photographer and videographer have a backup!

  2. Have a Plan B date. A lot of my couples have been around the lockdowns here in Melbourne and after talking with them, I found the ones who were able to re-plan and book sooner had already picked a ‘Backup date’ or a backup location.

  3. Discuss with your partner, would you get married with only 10 of your closest friends and family? My Nanna always said, ‘Plan for the worst and hope for the best’ and those words have always stuck by me.
SO if the worst came and you could only have 10 people, would you still go ahead with it? Or would you wait a year or so? If you were to go ahead with just 10 people, have that list ready. This way guests won’t be surprised or upset if they have to be uninvited.

  4.  Have a backup party date!! A lot of couples are going ahead and getting married with only 10 or less people. BUT they have also planned a big party for when restrictions do lift. This can be anything from a fancy dinner to literally just having the reception on a different day. This can also be better as your wedding day is so packed with love and joy that you are exhausted by the end of it. So why not spread it over 2 days?
