Have you thought about Eloping?
It's so exciting to get married, and eloping is just as important and just as special as a ‘big’ wedding with 150+ guests.
Elopements in Victoria have been more and more popular due to all the lockdowns and cancellations in the last two years
To me, eloping is when two people decide to forego the traditional big wedding traditions like tapers, seating plans and programs, to have an intimate wedding with just the two of you, or maybe with a couple of close friends or family by your side.
It's simple, it's elegant and allows the whole day for you to celebrate your love for each other and your commitment.
I've recently fallen in love with the idea of a full day elopement. This is where you take the full day to be with each other and do things you may never do again. I was shocked to hear that most people treat an elopement like a quick photoshoot. They would have the ceremony and 30 minutes for a couple of photos and then head off for a dinner somewhere.
And that does sound nice - heck it’s what I did. But I never knew that an elopement could be so much more!
If you and your partner could do anything for a full 24 hours what would it be?
Let’s imagine…
After a great sleep in and breakfast, you’re starting the day at 12 pm, and start with having your hair and makeup done. Your partner gets ready either in another room or a separate location, getting dressed, doing his final checks on his vows that he wrote just for you.
1:30 am - We meet first a “first look” on an empty beach / by a waterfall/ or in your stunning Airbnb (It’s your day, you choose!). Your flowers in your hand as you walk towards him. He turns around, smiling the biggest smile you have ever seen. Let’s enjoy this moment, maybe a few tears. Take this time to really look at and laugh with the person you are marrying!
2:30 Let’s cruise the great ocean road, taking in the sights, hand in hand, stopping here and there for a photo with the beautiful scenery
3:30 Time to head to your favourite spot or a stunning location - if your first look was in AirBnB - lets go to the waterfalls near Lorne, hopping from rock to rock, we find the perfect place to say your vows to each other. This is my favourite moment because I find that at an elopement your not being watched by 100s of people, these words are special, just between the two of you. No one to judge you if you cry- it’ll be our secret!
4:30 Let’s have a Picnic, with a beautiful bottle of wine, and a variety of cheeses just for you to sit and enjoy the views around you.
5:30 Do you like animals? Let’s fo for a leisurely horse ride along the beach? Or go on a small walk and find a secret waterfall?
6:30 Let’s find that perfect beach for your first dance, let the music serenade you one an empty beach, just the two of you! Spin around be silly it’s just you! Enjoy the sunset, breath in the salty fresh air as a married couple.
7:30 Let’s head back to your Airbnb where a Private chef is cooking you your favourite meals! Kick-off your shoes, enjoy a glass of wine and relax knowing your meal is going to be amazing, and you don’t have to cook!
What an incredible day to remember and on your anniversary for every following year!
A lot of people think that you just need a photographer for the ceremony but I believe that if you do that, you are missing out!! Your whole day deserves to be documented! You are only going to get married once (hopefully).
Your day can be so much more than what the ‘typical’ wedding or basic elopement. Let’s create and capture a truly special day.
Let me know your thoughts!
All my best,
Michaela
